Jacques Falce, describes himself with too much modesty, as a retried engineer, member of the Cercle littéraire proustien de Cabourg-Balbec, residing in Saint Chamond-Loire, France. The first drawing depicts Proust sitting in a corner of the dining room of the Grand-Hôtel at Cabourg, enjoying tea and madeleines while reading his favorite newspaper, Le Figaro, and oblivious to a girl cyclist passing by on what today is known as the Promenade Marcel Proust. In the second drawing, Proust, leaning over the balustrade, seems to be engaging in conversation with a fashionable woman.
